4th of July- where do i start? Head over to mom’s house round noon to clean up and get ready for our shindig. Things started normally, people rolled in ’round 5. We grilled, we laughed, we drank (some more than others), overall a good time. Round 8:30 someone (gonna leave names out of this, sorry.) was really trashed, like the most drunk and out of hand i had ever seen this person. He wanted to leave, in his own car, in the driver’s seat- not happening. After a lengthy discussion, push came to shove (literally). I corralled this person somewhat forcefully and was then picked up and thrown down on the asphalt from about shoulder level. Mind you this guy is pretty much twice my size. I got up and swung on him, landed a clean right and was promptly pulled off by my friends. I realized shortly after how much my left arm hurt and took another 2 seconds to know what happened. Arms aren’t sposed to look like that. Long story short- cops got called, gave him a ride to the hospital (mental stuff), i didn’t press charges and we shot some righteous fireworks. I chose not to go to the hospital last night. It was already getting late and I didn’t want to spend the rest of my night hugged up next to a drunk firework victim. Got home, took a few aleve and went to bed.
This morning we woke up, got a quick breakfast and headed out to quickcare. Waited about a hour to see the doc. He walked in and said, “yep- looks broke.” Got some x-rays that proved his suspicions and then was given the news that there was nothing there they could do. He didn’t have the drugs or the expertise to set it. Referred me to the ER at the hospital by my house. They splinted it, gave me a lil “good game” and sent me on my way. Oh by the way, they told me not to eat or drink anything, just in case. We roll to the ER, get right in and get some more x-rays. Wait for another hour and find out that they aren’t going to do anything for me there. Great. I broke both bones (radius / ulna) in my lower arm. The bones hadn’t moved enough for them to have to reduce (set) it there. Instead i get to make an appointment tomorrow with the orthopedic surgeon so i can see when they can operated to install some hardware (pins, maybe plates). We leave the hospital totally famished, i’m a lil lighter in the wallet and in a sizable amount of pain. I want my sunday back.
So there you have it- my 4th of July weekend.

jeez.. its sort of amazing how they just push you off to other people..i suppose a rookie doctor fixing your arm wrong would be the worst that could happen, ontop of what already has… sounds like a long nightmare.. good luck getting it repaired. glad this story wasnt worse, with cops/with the friend/who knows what could have happened.
